At the beginning the Autumn Term 2023, we expanded our work on the Equality Act and Protected Characteristics in our curriculum. The No Outsiders programme promotes an ethos of inclusion and tolerance and prepares children for life in Modern Britain.
The curriculum is inlcuded in our Personal, Social and Health Scheme of Work. Each half-term, the chilcdren learn about on the Proctected Characteristics through a given text. You can see all the books we use below. The children get an opportunity to discuss and debate issues that may affect them or others around them.
Additionally, over the year the children experience a number of different assemblies on different themes.
In the Summer Term 2024. The children talked really enthusiasically about what they had learned about the differnet protected characteristics. From this, we have chosen some new books for next year!
Also, they felt it was important to look at more than one person for Black History Months, so we have added famous Black Brtions to our list.
Look at some of the work from the books we have been learning about!
